Mediterranean Cruise-- Savona, Italy

We landed in Savona, Italy to journey one hour by train to Genoa. Thanks to the missionaries that led us in the right direction. We found the sea of dreams for Ben and Trent! We arrived at the largest aquarium in Europe where we saw tropical fish, sponges and jelleyfish, turtles, iguana's, natural corals, sharks, dolphins, seals and penguins. Minus the larger creatures every thing was rather familiar since we have an aqurium (Ben's Baby) of our own in our family room at home. I loved watching Ben and Trent walk around with perma-smiles for a couple hours!

Then we were off to one of the most celebrated former inhabitants of Savona-- the navigator Christopher Columbus! Savona claims his birth and residency. He lived in a small cottage situated in the Savona Hills where he farmed land while chronicling his journeys. It was crazy to be in the same four walls he enjoyed in the late 1400's.
We loved wandering around Old Genoa at random. The narrow and winding streets threw up occasional surprises, fantastic shops, lots of scooters and the experience of being in a “real” medieval city quarter still almost totally unscathed by mass tourism was incredible!
We left about 5:30pm for Savona by train and arrived just in time to set sail for Katakolon, Greece!
